LESSON PLANS Title: Using the Prezi Presentation Tool in Theatre

Rational for investigating Prezi
·      Fits well in existing unit 13 grading criteria.
·      Prezi works well as a replacement for lessons and projects previously done with Microsoft PowerPoint.
·      Students can communicate their scenes unspoken content and themes using Prezi.
·      Using digital images students could create theatrical content not normally available in such performance.
·      Students can illustrate the story, scan their own work and then create Prezi presentations to work in their scenes.
·      Because Prezi allows for more than one user to edit a project, this web application is great for group projects.  Students can work collaboratively and simultaneously from home or the public library.

SOW Goals:
·      Students will learn to use and create a "1984 Narrative" presentation using the Prezi program.
·      Explore and develop a performance integrating Prezi’s live action with other media
·      Use Prezi in a multimedia performance.
·      Students will immersive themselves with the theatrical potential of the application.
·      Students will have an understanding of the importance of using presentation tools.

Differentiated Strategies
1.     Students can work in pairs on this project.
2.     Students can come to the theatre lab session to get extra help at appropriate times.
3.     Students can continue to work on their presentation at home with help.

Lesson 4
Overview and Purpose: To go beyond a basic understanding of the Prezi, to learn how to layer objects within the Prezi to further organise the path of a performance presentation. This lesson helps students under the use of the Prezi Presentation Tool. It also aims to help them learn better computer based research skills.
Objectives:
1.     Begin to prepare complex authoring of narrative transitions and content for use in live performance to an audience. Students will view further handouts on the Multimedia Blog,  http://multibrit.blogspot.co.uk/
2.     Students will create their own "1984 Narrative" Prezi presentation, in preparation for the use in rehearsals.

Resources:
Computer Classroom, projector, Multimedia Blog, Devising Notes, copy excerpts from of Headlong’s 1984.

Methods
Introduction:
To go beyond a basic understanding of the Prezi, watch the following videos.
1.     After learning the basics of using Prezi, one can begin to explore how to group and layer objects within the Prezi to further organize the path of a presentation, as detailed in the video below:
2.     After creating a Prezi, there are a number of options for sharing the finished product, including email, Twitter, Facebook and more. The video below demonstrates how to go about sharing finished Prezis:

Engagement:
1.     Begin to layer pathways with useful excerpts from the text in conjunction with the performance scenes.
2.     View the Prezi online tutorial on projector, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxhqD0hNx4Q&feature=player_embedded.
3.     Model how to create a Prezi by taking students step-by-step through the handout at while instructor demonstrates by creating own "1984" presentation.

Extensions:
1.     Explore Video projections, recorded action, images, animations, narration and live feeds
2.     Recorded sound, such as narration, instruction, ‘inner thoughts’, commentary, musical underscoring and ‘soundscapes’

Notes:
Some of you may have difficulty finding good digital images for their Prezis, so please ask for assistance. Others will find creating paths challenging, especially for students who want their path to “zoom” more.
Allow time for to evaluate your peer’s Prezi so you can asses and refine your own creations.
Practice moving through your presentations, as well as practice how you will perform it.
